Richard Sharpe, a men's soccer team member from 1990-93, was inducted into the Florida Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 2001. Sharpe holds the program and NCAA career records for goals (137) and points (321). He helped the squad to their second NCAA Division II National Championship title, four straight NCAA Tournament appearances, and three SSC Regular Season Titles. Individually, he was a three-time SSC Player of the Year and the first player ever to receive the award. He is still the only SSC player to win it three times. Sharpe is a member of the Sunshine State Conference Hall of Fame.

In his final season as a Panther, Sharpe scored 39 goals, the second most in a single season in program history, only topped by himself. He also assisted on 12 goals for the fourth most points in a season by a Panther with 90. Sharpe guided his team to the NCAA Final Four and, in the process, earned SSC Player of the Year for the Year for the third consecutive season. He also received All-SSC, All-South, and All-America First Team recognition.

The previous season, Sharpe broke the program record he set himself with 49 goals, 14 assists, and 112 points. Sharpe scored a record six goals and 13 points in a game against Palm Beach Atlantic. He grabbed his second SSC Player of the Year and All-SSC First Team honors. The SSC also awarded him the Male Athlete of the Year Award for the 1992-93 year. Sharpe also earned All-South and All-America First Team honors.

Sharpe's sophomore campaign in 1991 saw him break the program record for goals previously held by his teammate Chris Payne. Sharpe scored 42 goals and assisted in 13 for 97 points. He led the Panthers to their second NCAA Division II National Championship title and was awarded NCAA Tournament MVP. Sharpe received the first-ever SSC Player of the Year award and was a First-Team All-SSC selection. He also grabbed All-South and All-America First Team honors.

Sharpe had a strong freshman season, netting 7 goals and 8 assists for 22 points. His efforts were recognized with an All-SSC Second Team selection.
