Nino Lyons, a dedicated member of the men's basketball team from 1980-83, was honored with his induction into the esteemed Florida Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 1991. Lyons was a two-time Team MVP and an NABC All-South District Second Team honoree. He served as the Florida Tech Assistant Basketball Coach following his collegiate career from 1984-87. 

Lyons earned NABC All-South District Second Team honors in his final year as a Panther, 1982-83. He had a tremendous season, highlighted by a program-record 20-assist game against Florida International on February 8, 1983. He also earned Team MVP honors for his stellar season.

In 1981-82, Lyons recorded 543 points on 228 made field goals and 87 made free throws. The 543 points came in 26 games played for an SSC-leading 20.8 points per game and second in school history for a single season. Lyons also earned his first Team MVP of his career.

During the 1980-81 season, Lyon tallied 366 points on 41 percent shooting and 46 rebounds. In 25 games, he averaged 14.6 points per game and 1.8 rebounds per game.
